FAQs

Everything You Need to Know About Our Seafood

  • How do I place an order with Shrimp Runner?

Orders are placed weekly through our Facebook page. Every Tuesday or Wednesday, we post the week’s fresh seafood availability—typically including Gulf shrimp, crab, crawfish (in season), oysters, and fish. Just comment, message us, or call to reserve your order. Please let us know the quantity and pickup location, and we’ll confirm with you directly. Orders are sourced on Thursday during our Gulf run and are ready for pickup on Friday or Saturday at our West Plains market or Springfield partner sites. This system guarantees freshness and avoids food waste. No prepayment is required; however, confirmed orders are considered binding commitments. You’ll pay at pickup, usually by cash or card, depending on the location. It’s local, personal, and designed to get you seafood that’s fresh, not frozen. We make the process simple so you can spend less time wondering and more time enjoying great seafood.

  • What kind of seafood do you offer?

Our core offerings include wild-caught Gulf shrimp, live blue crab, and seasonal crawfish. Throughout the year, we also feature rotating specials, including red snapper, grouper, yellowfin tuna, pompano, oysters in the shell, and other hard-to-find Gulf catches. Everything we sell is fresh, never frozen, and hand-selected by our founder, Kelby, on weekly sourcing trips to Biloxi, Mississippi. What’s available changes based on season, weather, and dock supply, so we recommend checking Facebook each week for the updated menu. Our seafood is delivered within 24–36 hours of harvest, giving you unmatched quality and flavor. Whether you’re cooking a family dinner, throwing a backyard boil, or stocking up for the weekend, we’ve got something for every taste. If you’re looking for something specific—like party packs, boil kits, or oysters for a special event—just ask. We’re happy to help.

  • Where do I pick up my order?

You can pick up your seafood order at our home base in West Plains or from one of our trusted partner locations in Springfield. In West Plains, pickups happen at the Shrimp Runner Restaurant & Fish Market, where you can also shop and dine. In Springfield, we operate out of The Filipino Market on Campbell Avenue and The Hibiscus Jerk Hut on Glenstone Avenue. All pickup locations and times are included in our weekly Facebook post when we announce the available seafood. Most pickups happen on Friday or Saturday, depending on logistics and volume. If you’re unsure which location is best for you, please message us, and we’ll be happy to guide you. We don’t offer shipping or delivery—everything is local and in-person to preserve freshness and maintain high quality.

  • Do you sell frozen or precooked seafood?

No. Shrimp Runner is committed to delivering fresh, never-frozen Gulf seafood. We don’t precook or prepackage anything. Each week, we source wild-caught seafood directly from the Biloxi docks and transport it back to Missouri in under 36 hours. Our shrimp, crab, and crawfish are raw and handled with care to maintain peak freshness. Fish may be sold whole or filleted, depending on the catch and your request. Oysters arrive live in the shell when in season. We believe that frozen seafood can’t compare to the flavor and texture of truly fresh products—especially when they’re sourced specifically for your order. If you’ve only ever had frozen shrimp or pre-boiled crab, we invite you to try the real thing. We also provide tips for storage, prep, and cooking so you can make the most of what you buy. It’s a better experience from start to finish.

  • How fresh is your seafood?

We don’t just say “fresh”—we mean it. Every Thursday, our founder, Kelby, drives down to Biloxi, Mississippi to personally source the week’s seafood from trusted Gulf docks. He selects the best catch available, packs it for the drive back, and delivers it to Missouri in time for Friday and Saturday pickups. That means your shrimp, crab, crawfish, or fish was in the water for less than 36 hours before you picked it up. Everything is brought in based on confirmed customer orders and sold that same week. It’s a hyper-local, ultra-fresh system that ensures you’re getting seafood at its absolute peak. You won’t find that at big box stores—and once you’ve tasted the difference, you won’t want to.

  • Do you offer large orders or party packs?

Yes! In fact, we specialize in custom party packs for a wide range of events, from crawfish boils to church dinners and family reunions. You can build your own seafood pack with your choice of shrimp, crab, crawfish, or seasonal specials. Please let us know how many people you’re feeding and what type of event you’re planning, and we’ll help you estimate quantities and create a customized order. Party packs are available for any group size—from a small family dinner to a 100-person boil. We recommend placing large orders early in the week to guarantee availability. Everything is sourced fresh, packed for easy transport, and picked up at one of our local Missouri locations. It’s the perfect way to make your next gathering unforgettable. Need help planning the menu or cooking tips for your first boil? Just ask—we’re here for that too.

  • What if I miss my pickup time?

If you miss your pickup window, please reach out as soon as possible. Because our seafood is fresh and highly perishable, we can’t always hold items for long. In some cases, we can arrange a late pickup at our West Plains market, but this depends on the product and timing. Unfortunately, if we don’t hear from you, your order may need to be forfeited or resold to avoid spoilage. We treat confirmed orders as commitments and do our best to coordinate clear pickup times each week. If something changes, just let us know—we’re flexible when communication is open. Repeated no-shows without notice may impact your ability to place future orders, as we strive to maintain an efficient and fair system for everyone. We're not just selling seafood—we’re planning each trip based on real people’s needs. Keeping us in the loop helps us help you.

  • What seafood is seasonal?

Many of our most exciting offerings are seasonal, meaning they’re only available at specific times of the year. Crawfish season typically runs from late January through early summer. Gulf oysters are best in the cooler months, especially winter. Red snapper, grouper, pompano, amberjack, and yellowfin tuna all rotate through based on Gulf conditions and fishing windows. These items are featured in our Seasonal Specials and are available for a limited time—typically just a few weeks. We announce them on Facebook, including pricing and ordering information, as soon as we confirm availability. If you're looking for something specific for a holiday, party, or special dinner, message us early so we can help you plan around the season. Our specials are some of the freshest and rarest seafood you’ll find in Missouri—and they’re worth the wait.

  • Do you deliver or ship seafood?

No, we don’t ship or deliver seafood. Shrimp Runner is a local, pickup-based operation built on freshness, reliability, and community. We offer weekly pickups at our West Plains market and our Springfield partner locations. Shipping would compromise the freshness that defines our business—and we’re not willing to compromise on this. By keeping things local and in-person, we maintain quality, control, and a sense of connection. You’ll know exactly when and where your seafood is coming from, and we’ll be there to answer any questions you have. That’s the Shrimp Runner difference: no mystery boxes, no warehouses—just real seafood from real people. If pickup doesn’t work for you, message us. We’ll help you explore options or direct you to a partner site nearby. Our goal is to make it easy and enjoyable to eat great seafood—even without a coastline.
